Official Notice
TNPSC CTS Non-Interview 2026 — Architecture / Town Planning Exam Date Confirmed
The wait is over. Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has fixed the exam date for Architectural Assistant / Planning Assistant, and the clock is now running.
Via Addendum Notification No.4B/2026, dated 16 July 2026, TNPSC has confirmed the date and time of examination for every subject paper of the Combined Technical Services Examination (Non-Interview Posts) - papers that Notification No.04/2026 (20.05.2026) had originally listed as "will be announced later."
For every Town Planning, Civil Engineering and Architecture aspirant, one line in that addendum matters more than the rest:
Town Planning, Civil Engineering and Architecture (subject code 560) - Tuesday, 8 September 2026, 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
The official PDF is embedded on this page. Read it, screenshot it, save it - this is the date you are now preparing against.

What Else The Addendum Confirms
- Total vacancies notified across Notification 04/2026 and its addenda 4A/2026 and 4B/2026 now stand at 508.
- The addendum also revises vacancy numbers for a few unrelated posts (Junior Scientific Officer, Assistant Tourist Officer, Assistant Statistical Investigator, Junior Architect, Assistant Engineer - Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board) and withdraws vacancies for Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) and Junior Chemist at Tamil Nadu Magnesite Limited. None of this changes the Architectural Assistant / Planning Assistant post or subject code 560.
- Exam centre, hall ticket and further instructions will be issued through each candidate's TNPSC One Time Registration (OTR) account and www.tnpsc.gov.in. No centre or hall ticket details are in this addendum.
Why This Notification Changes Everything For Your Preparation
Until 16 July 2026, "exam date will be announced later" gave every candidate an excuse to keep preparation loose - read a bit more, plan a revision cycle "closer to the date." That excuse is gone. 8 September 2026 is now a fixed point, and every day between today and then either moves you closer to a rank or gets wasted.
Subject code 560 is not a small syllabus. It pulls together three technical domains - town planning theory and regional planning, civil and highway engineering, and architecture history and design - plus Tamil Nadu's own planning acts and development-plan framework. Candidates who treat this as "just an architecture exam" or "just a civil exam" consistently lose marks to the sections they ignored. There is no more time to prepare that way.
This is exactly the gap EduFest Academy's TNPSC Planning Assistant Notes are built to close - a Part 1 and Part 2 system mapped directly to subject code 560, so revision follows the syllabus instead of a scattered pile of PDFs.
- Get the TNPSC Planning Assistant Notes (Part 1 & Part 2) - exam-oriented, syllabus-mapped, ready for the 8 September paper.
- Join the full TNPSC Architectural Assistant / Planning Assistant Course - structured classes covering Town Planning, Civil Engineering and Architecture end to end.
How To Use The Weeks Before 8 September
With a fixed date now on the table, this is the last window where a real change in strategy can still move your score. Use it.
- Attempt a full-length mock now, not in the last week. A timed paper today tells you exactly which of the three domains - planning, civil, or architecture - is weakest. A mock taken on 6 September only confirms what you already fear.
- Study subject code 560 as one paper, not three. Planning theory, regional planning and development plan content connect directly with civil engineering topics like urban transportation and water supply, and with architecture history and built-form. Revise them together, not in isolation.
- Prioritise Tamil Nadu's own planning context. Municipal Acts under the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments, town planning schemes and Tamil Nadu-specific development frameworks are consistently high-yield in this exam.
- Re-attempt every question you get wrong. With roughly a month left, fixing known gaps returns more marks than reading new chapters.
- Lock your revision material now. Switching notes or sources with weeks to go costs more time than it saves. Pick one syllabus-mapped set - like the EduFest Academy Part 1 & Part 2 Notes - and revise it end to end.
Every day you delay is a day fewer to revise a syllabus this wide. Start with the TNPSC Planning Assistant Notes today and walk into the 8 September paper with a plan instead of a scramble.

Shift from reading to timed practice.
