What is the MPSC Assistant Town Planner exam, and who is it for?

The MPSC Assistant Town Planner (ATP) post is a Maharashtra government career in urban planning. It suits Civil Engineering and Architecture graduates and Town Planning students who want to work in planning. As discussed in the video, the most recent exam had 100 MCQs of 2 marks each, followed by a personal interview, with selection on merit using the marks from both. The official notification decides the final pattern.

What syllabus areas does the video expect?

These are the faculty's expectations, not confirmed topics:

• General Planning: current events and the core urban-planning schemes (for example AMRUT, Smart City and their 2.0 versions, and PMAY 2.0), which the video says appeared in the 2018 and 2022 papers and are expected to continue with updates. No change is expected in RTI, RTS or the core planning theories, though one or two theories may be added. Candidates who have attempted ATP before are advised to concentrate here, because these are basic questions only a planner can answer.
• Planning part: Regional Plan, Development Plan and Town Planning Scheme. Local Area Plan, Structure Plan and Development Charges may be added; they already sit inside the MR&TP Act.
• UDCPR: described as a consistently important topic with many questions, including recent regulation changes on transportation and environment.
• Land and Valuation (Land Acquisition): needs experience and repeated reading. Together with UDCPR and the MR&TP Act it carries much more weightage than other topics.

Where should a beginner start?

As per the video, beginners should start with Land and Valuation, then read UDCPR and the MR&TP Act. Build that base now, and revise against the official syllabus once the notification is published.
